| Ørland Main Air Station, Norway September 2007 |
For the first time in history, Norway and the 338 Squadron from Ørland MAS was hosting a Nato Tiger Meet at their homebase. During the period 25-28 Sept, more than 300 sorties were flown including range firing, air-to-air, low level nav and COMAO missions. Due to the growing helicopter force within the Tigers Association, they are fully intigrated within the missions as Forward Air Controllers or in the Combat Search and Rescue role. At the end of all Tiger Meets, trophies are awarded in several categories. Of course the most important is the Silver Tiger Trophy. This year the 31 'Tiger' Squadron (F-16 ) from Belgium had the honor to take the trophy home for the 6th time. They had to split the trophy for Best Flying Squadron with the 338 squadron (F-16) from Ørland. The trophy for the best painted aircraft went to the 11 Staffel (F/A-18) from Switzerland. The NATO TIGER MEET 2007, codename Arctic Tiger, was officially ended on Sept 30th and most of the participants returned to their homebases the following day. Special thanks to Major Øivind Wathne, Kaptein Morten Rosenlund, the whole PA Team at Ørland MAS and the Wing Commander Mark Attrill (NTA Press & PA advisor) for the great days and the awesome photo spots during the Arctic Tiger 2007..
